Sonja Yvonne Gabbert

Sonja Yvonne Gabbert, 78, of Denton passed away on June 23, 2018 in Denton. She was born on December 9, 1939 to Leonard James and Ruby Lorene (Clark) Oney in McPherson, Kansas.

She married Don E. Gabbert on December 31, 1970 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone where she was a Supervisor upon her retirement. She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church and was active in the Alter Guild. She was a devoted wife and mother and always put the needs of others before hers. She had a strong loving bond with her brothers, sister and mother. She was a proud and doting grandmother who loved to spoil her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon McKeown and husband Mike of Denton; sister, Paula Ferris and husband Gary of Tulsa; brothers, Ted and wife Chloe of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Mike Oney and wife Randi of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sister-in-law Shirley Oney and six nieces and nephews; grandchildren Grace, David and Michael McKeown.

She is preceded in death by her husband Don Gabbert, mother, Ruby Oney and brother, Wilbert Oney.

Funeral services will be held at St. David's Episcopal Church in Denton on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Denton.
