Dr. Calvin McRae Bracy, 79, of Hot Springs,
formerly of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, November 3, 2019.
He was born February 29, 1940 in Little Rock, son of Sam Bracy and
Pauline Cherry Bracy.
Dr. Bracy was reared and received his early education in Little Rock. He
earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas at
Fayetteville and graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences Medical School in Little Rock. Dr. Bracy served his residency
at St. John’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He served in the United States Army and served at the Red Stone Arsenal
in Huntsville, Alabama, where he served as Chief OB/GYN
Dr. Bracy then started his OB/GYN practice in Pine Bluff, where he
served for the next 40 years at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and
delivered thousands of babies in South Arkansas. Dr. Bracy treated every
patient with special care and attention, and dearly loved his work and
caring for people.
He served on the Arkansas State Medical Board and State Board of OB/GYN.
Dr. Bracy also served on the Arkansas Medical Society Board of Trustees.
Dr. Bracy enjoyed duck hunting and golf, but his favorite past-time was
spending time with his grandchildren.
He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and was a member of First United
Methodist Church of Pine Bluff.
Dr. Bracy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Calvin McRae Bracy,
Jr.; and brother, Sam Bracy.
Survivors include his wife, Melinda Louise Mosley Bracy; son, Dr. Brian
Keith Bracy and his wife, Chauna; brother, Louis Fletcher Bracy; three
grandchildren, Hudson Claire Bracy, Wells McRae Bracy and Jed Anderson
Bracy; and their beloved dog, Snookie.
A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday,
November 9, 2019 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son.
Visitation will follow the service at Robinson’s.
