Carol Ann Thompson Zangerl, 82 of Blytheville, passed away
Friday, September 2, 2022 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.
Carol
was born in Galveston, Texas to Jack Thompson and Emma Jean Surratt
Thompson. Her mother died when Carol was only 19 days old. She then
moved to live with her maternal grandparents, John and Lennie Surratt in
Little Rock, Arkansas. Carol was in the 1958 historic, first
integrated class to graduate from Little Rock Central
High School. She had a passion for dancing and was the owner of two
dance studios located in Jacksonville, Arkansas and Lonoke, Arkansas,
where she taught dance. Carol worked as an Ophthalmologist
assistant and was a member of the Little Rock Garden Club. After
moving to Searcy, she opened a needle craft store and later
moved to Jonesboro where she opened another store. When Carol
moved to Blytheville, she became a member of Aldersgate Methodist
Church where she served as the church secretary. Carol loved reading
the Bible, inspirational Christian books and doing genealogy research.
She was
preceded in death by her parents, Jack Thompson and Emma Jean Surratt
Thompson.
Carol
is survived by her husband, Rudolph “Rudy” Zangerl, Jr. of the
home; children, Leslie Lott and her husband Solan, Jr. of
Jonesboro and Rudolph “Zan” Zangerl III of Blytheville;
and grandson, Austin Lott of Nashville, Tennessee.
Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in
the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. |
