Mooser, Judy Cameron 71 Aug.
12, 1940 Sept. 23, 2011 Judy Mooser, 71, took her last breaths Sept. 23,
2011, in the still moments just before dawn. Her charm, graciousness,
generosity and wonderful smile lifted the spirit of all who had the good
fortune of knowing her. Judy established the Callanetics Studios of
Portland in 1990. Inordinately gifted as an exercise teacher and
business professional, she managed to keep her studios models of success
even in the tight fitness market. Her approach has been pioneering for
its focus on the exercise needs of seniors, especially women. In the
past year she had a professional association with Barre 3, originating
and teaching the "Rebound" classes at its Pearl and S.E.
Portland studios. The memory of Judy for countless persons will be
synonymous with their enhanced quality of life, achieved through fitness
guided by her gentle touch and encouragement. Also a Callanetics, Inc.,
master trainer of teachers in the Callanetics Method, Judy had students
from around the globe, many of whom traveled from far reaches to train
directly under her in her studios. Prior to her Callanetics business,
Judy had a 20-year career in insurance, during which her accomplishments
were no less impressive. She served a term as President of both the
Portland Chapter and the Northwest Regional Chapter of the National
Association of Insurance Women. She was also awarded Insurance Woman of
the Year by each of those chapters. Judy's cause of death was lung
cancer. She is survived by her husband, Storie Mooser; and daughter,
Tara Mooser. Preceding Judy in death was her daughter, Torm, who died of
breast cancer in 2003.
