
Martha
May Long Gregory, 71, of North Little Rock died December 9, 2011. She
was born June 3, 1940, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Albert
Wallace Long and the late Lucille Vivian Packer Long.
Martha graduated from Little Rock Central High School and attended
Little Rock Jr. College (later UALR). She met and married her husband,
Dick, while they both were on staff at KTHS Radio in Little Rock. She
later worked at the Arkansas Workmen's Compensation Commission and the
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Hematology and Oncology
Research Department before becoming a stay-at-home Wife to Dick and Mom
to David which was the callings she loved the best. Martha was a member
of Park Hill Baptist Church for many years serving in mission endeavors,
leading discipleship groups and teaching a women's Bible Class. She
attended and was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship. She loved to cook,
fish with her husband and to travel together to see their son and his
family and other places in the U.S.
Survivors include: son, David Laurence Gregory and wife Kathryn of South
Riding, Virginia; brother: Dr. Albert Wallace Long and wife Mona of San
Antonio, Texas; Grandchildren: Andrew Warren Gregory and Matthew Reick
Gregory of South Riding, Virginia; sister-in-law Betty Jean Gregory
Leavell of Monticello. Arkansas; nephews: Ronald Long, Jeffrey McCauley,
Markham Crone, Larry Leavell; nieces: Vivian Long Moore, Janet Long
Kilpatrick, Joyce Leavell Keeling, and numerous great nieces, nephews
and many friends.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Richard
Laurence Gregory; two sisters: Gloria Long McCauley and Charlotte Long
Crone; and her beloved Aunt Charlotte M. Packer.
Special gratitude goes to the Gregory Sunday School Class members for
their loving care during the last two years of Martha's life.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Thursday at
North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 501-758-1170.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday at Park Hill Baptist
Church. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander.
