Carolyn Sue Pettyjohn
Brain, age 81, of Harrison, passed away on June 22, 2022, at her
home.
The daughter of Earl Frank and Lovey Irene
Garbett Pettyjohn, she was born October 14, 1940, in Texarkana, Texas.
Sue grew up in Little Rock and lived in Russellville from 1971 until
moving to Harrison in 2011 to be near family. After graduating from
Little Rock Central High in 1958, Sue studied English and Art at Hendrix
College. She married her husband Sid in 1961. Sue and Sid went on to
spend 61 loving years together, raising their children, participating in
their community, and traveling and making friends all over the country.
Sue was known for her kind, loving heart,
her generosity, and keeping up with friends and family near and far
through letters and cards. Sue was a long-time member of the First
United Methodist Church of Russellville, and she attended Valley View
United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Harrison.
She was also a member of P.E.O. in both Russellville and Harrison. Sue
volunteered in nursing homes, taught Sunday school, and volunteered at
Wesley Foundation and Manna House in Russellville.
Known as Grammy to her grandchildren and
their friends, Sue loved spending time with them in person and through
FaceTime. As her grandchildren grew, Sue shared her love of art, nature,
poetry, and baking with them. Her playful sense of humor and joyful
nature led to many shared hours of love and laughter. Sue was
preceded in death by her parents.
